Great Outdoors Club returns
Welcome back to the boys and girls of P2 and P3 to the great outdoors at Ballydown.
This week we had great fun in our wellies and took part in more fun activities.
P3 helped to gather renewable resources in our school grounds and as a group made a huge circle on the top pitch that we think could be seen from the sky by a helicopter , birds or even Santa Claus this December. Afterwards we made our own land art individually or in groups of everything from a forest , a number garden , a robot , a rainbow , a shelter and lots lots more. Our imaginations were really in full flow today.
Meanwhile, the Primary 2 children went up to the Rath to make a bird feeding station. We hollowed out old pumpkins and oranges πto hang up or set on the ground. We wanted to feed the birds who eat from a feeder as well as ground feeding birds.
Then we made a big mixture of unsalted butter, breadcrumbs, old breakfast cereal, raisins, bird seed and meal worms. We used our hands to mix it up and pretended we were baking. The dried worms felt very crunchy! After that, we stuffed the sticky mixture into the hollowed fruit / veg and hung our feeders or placed them in the Rath.
Finally we hung a motion-activated camera to a tree and pointed it at our feeders. We hope that next week, we’ll have photos of whoever visits our feeders! Fingers crossed!π¦ ππππ¦πΏπ¦
