P4 Houses and Homes topic
15th Nov 2024
P4 have been enjoying their “Houses and Homes” topic. They have been finding out about different types of houses that you can live in. After doing a survey about their house, they had to enter the details into a computer database. P4 have been making cement bricks too. Today everyone had fun making houses out of shoe boxes and cardboard boxes. Using Adobe drawing on the computer P4 have been drawing their houses too. During Activity Based Learning sessions P4 have been builders - building walls using wooden blocks, being architects - drawing plans and designing houses, using Lego, they have been creative building houses. They have been using the screwdrivers, spirit level and other tools. The Bee-Bot has proved very popular too, P4 had to program it to travel to different houses. P4 on Thursday P4 were very excited to see Tommy’s dad, Mr Clyde come to visit their class. He is a civil engineer and he told us some very interesting facts about his role in building. We were told all about the importance of health and safety at a building site, what happens to the water in our home, how it comes to our home and how it leaves our house. Mr Clyde brought in lots of interesting materials and resources for us to observe. He very kindly gave everyone a goodie bag which contained a pair of gloves, torch and water bottle. Thank you Mr Clyde.
